DYNAMIC BREAKWATER SYSTEMS

FMC's DYNAMIC BREAKWATER SYSTEM introduces a major innovation in wave attenuation technology, whereby the power of the waves themselves is utilized to cause the hydrodynamic cancellation of their own intensity, and to generate powerful water currents. An unusually simple and sturdy device, it consists solely of a series of fixed curve vanes and discharge duct. Totally submerged to a minimum depth of 10 to 20 feet, its operative effect derives from the fundamental fact that progressive sea waves are always accompanied by corresponding subsurface orbital water movements. Both phenomenon are totally inter-dependent, and testing has conclusively proven that surface wave attenuation must occur when orbital motion is correspondingly altered. Despite its simple configuration, the breakwater induces a series of complex hydrodynamic reactions which, in their total effect, create an unusually effective and efficient dynamic barrier against wave and energy transmission over a wide spectrum.
