Midfield Terminal Curbfront Bridge
The roadway structures providing access to the recently completed Edward H. McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport presented several significant design challenges. The structural system developed to address those challenges features two levels of steel-concrete composite superstructures built monolithic with reinforced concrete columns to form continuous frames. The construction process was evaluated during design and details were developed to facilitate building the structures in a manner which controlled how the dead load of the two decks was resisted.
