Going Green: Minimizing Aviation's Environmental Footprint at Airports
This paper discusses the efforts that airports can take to minimize harmful environmental impacts and foster environmental stewardship. It describes airport regulations, international standards and industry initiatives. It lists airport initiatives under efforts to protect water quality and air quality, and efforts to halt or slow down climate change; efforts to mitigate airport noise and to undertake responsible land use strategies; recycling and waste management; wildlife protection; and sustainability and overall environmental management. Each airport initiative discussed also describes case studies that illustrate the initiative.
