Freight Distribution Logistic

The paper presents the development of a simulation model that aims to accurately reproduce the operation of a real freight distribution system. The model development and the simulation program are entirely original. The results of the simulation model, graphically presented in the paper, draw the attention upon their role in correlating the dimensioning of the system resources, and selecting the operating technologies. Further development of the simulation model to include the transient states of the system lead to the conception of a computerized decision support system to manage the real time operation of the trucks in the fleet. This decision support system (DSS) allows the human operator, depending on various scenarios, to decide upon the dispatching solution that ensures the rational use of resources based on the imposed restrictions. It is designed as a DSS with directive role.
