LINKAGE OF MICROSIMULATION MODELS WITH UTMC
Microsimulation models are increasingly being used to design and test ITS. Surrey County Council has recognised the role this can play with UTMC, aiding better scheme design and decision making. This paper investigates the SCOOTLink that enables true SCOOT control to be mimicked in S-Paramics. Other methods of replicating adaptive signal control are critiqued, and model development and Surrey's application of the SCOOTLink are described. The benefits of this are discussed together with its UTMC role. Comparison with a fixed time model has shown a reduction in total network delay of approximately 14-20% in Epsom Town Centre.
