FIRST USE WHITETOPPING IN SWITZERLAND
This document describes the design and construction of the concrete whitetopping repair of a severely distressed pavement of a road section at a regional road intersection. In the past, repair of this road section with asphalt overlays repeatedly failed to withstand the severe shear loading to which the pavement is subjected to on a daily basis by heavy truck traffic originating from surrounding quarries. This is the first whitetopping application in Switzerland and serves as a test for future whitetopping applications. With the whitetopping solution the repeated repair works of the past should no longer be necessary. The performance of the whitetopping to date indicates that this will prove to be an economical, durable and safe repair option. (Author)
