Using Building Site Waste in Bases and Sub-Bases of Flexible Pavements

Experiences of some Brazilian cities have shown that the dump recycling has potentiality great use, and the simplest use form of the recycled dump consists of its application in pavement works. Based on this interest and in searching economically viable alternatives, for the destination of the residues the purpose of this work wasn’t only giving a final destination to the residues but also transforming it into a product with a good acceptance in the market. For this, it was adopted that products accepted technologically by the market are those that have received theoretical and scientific study and a meticulous laboratorial analysis. The objective of this work is to evaluate the technological behavior of recycled aggregate coming from solid residues of the building sites of Goiânia, capital of Goiás’s state, in pavement works. The study realized a meticulous laboratorial experience program with the recycled aggregate in the maximum diameters of 4,8 mm, 19 mm, 38 mm and clay in the compositions in the range B, D and F of the specifications of DNER. Later an experimental road was executed to accomplish the field tests. The results showed that the clay acted significantly to promote considerable increase of the workability and low humidity deviation. The results of the experimental road, laboratory tests and field tests, showed that these materials had good workability and compatible resistance parameters for their use in bases and sub-bases of flexible pavements.
