Proud to be Orange: EasyJet Discounts Comparisons with Larger and More Profitable Ryanair
This article describes easyJet’s latest moves to compete with number one RyanAir in the low-cost carrier (LCC) arena. EasyJet is in second place, but recently purchased GB Airways for $212.1 million in what looks like an attempt to catch up with its Irish rival. The article includes an interview with easyJet’s CEO Andrew Harrison who reflects on the airline’s gains and the possible pitfalls ahead. The airline offers passengers a carbon offset scheme when purchasing tickets online, and has designed an “ecoJet,” which would fly more quietly and emit few greenhouse gases. The article includes charts on the airline’s bases in Europe, its fleet, and selected traffic and financial data.
