Understanding the Transport Market
The theme of this conference encompasses a major area of concern for transport planning authorities: what information is needed on the use and functions of a transport system in order to direct planning, investment policy and management of these systems to the furtherance of wider social and economic policies? This paper considers this issue from the standpoint of public transport in Greater London and other large metropolitan areas and, while it cannot offer definitive results, it will discuss the rationale of current and prospective programs of work.
