Urban Travel Reduction Options for Developing Countries
In the first part of the paper a review is made of the various solutions suggested for Bombay’s transport problem and the status of their implementation. In the next part of the paper, a few transport and non-transport solutions are discussed. Some empirical results are also presented to bring out the scope for possible substitution of transport trips by telecommunications. The paper concludes with remarks on the desirable transport planning policy for the future.
