Southern Vectis reaps the Go-Ahead effect
The Go-Ahead Group bought Southern Vectis and its Solent Blue Line subsidiary in 2005. A single two-tone green livery has been adopted by the Southern Vectis brand on the Isle of Wight, UK and the bus services have been improved. A new fare structure was introduced in 2006. The highest fares are £3.50 and one-day Rover tickets are £10 for adults. A new £20 seven-day Freedom ticket has been introduced. The network has been made less complicated by the introduction of clear, simple timetables on focused town-to-town routes. Frequencies have been enhanced on the busiest routes including that between Newport and Cowes. The new timetable has been delivered free to 97% of island homes. Some Southern Vectis routes now duplicate the Council's Wightbus services. More efficient use has been made of the existing bus fleet and the number of drivers has been increased by 50% since 2005. Open-top bus services have been increased
