Comprehensive Traffic Management

This article briefly reviews two research projects that are being carried out on telematic applications in Germany and Austria: Dusseldorf in Motion (Dmotion) and "Innovation in Traffic Management" (Innsbruck). These projects address some important issues in modern traffic management, including the use of cooperative teamwork between different authorities in traffic control; determining precise information about traffic states; and the impact of comprehensive information and control on road traffic.
