Specific Pavement Studies Material Sampling and Testing Requirements for Experiment SPS-1: Strategic Study of Structural Factors for Flexible Pavements
This report contains guidelines for the development and implementation of a material sampling and testing program for each test site included in the Specific Pavement Studies' experiment SPS-1, Strategic Study of Structural Factors for Flexible Pavements. These guidelines will help the Federal Highway Administration Long-Term Pavement Performance (FHWA-LTPP) Regional Coordination Office (RCO) develop recommendations for a field material sampling, field testing, and laboratory materials testing plan tailored for the individual test site. The FHWA-LTPP RCO and the participating state/provincial highway agency must coordinate the activities associated with the development and implementation of the recommended field sampling and testing plan to ensure compliance with the plan objectives and thus achieve the study's goals. This document is divided into four main sections covering the following topics: Introduction; Development of Sampling and Testing Plans; Field Material Sampling and Testing Requirements; and Laboratory Materials Testing Requirements.
