REDUCTION OF THE EFFECTIVENESS OF A PROPULSION UNIT AS A RESULT OF CONNECTING THE PROPELLER SHROUD TO THE SHIPS HULL
In order to find out the full effect of the inefficiency of a propulsion unit, an investigation was conducted of data on systematic model tests of propeller units with relatively long shrouds, propeller units with relatively short shrouds, and propellers in thin ring shrouds. A formula to determine the inefficiency factor was derived on the basis of data from systematic tests. ( Author )
