Cargo Aircraft: Planning is Paramount
Worst case scenario planning in aviation fire protection is paramount. Factors taken into account may include personnel status, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting vehicle status, runway and taxiway closures, and weather forecasts. Planning for incidents involving air cargo aircraft is of increasing importance at most airports, and the approach to fire fighting for cargo aircraft is different than for passenger aircraft. Fire-related issues include hazardous materials and aircrew safety. The author recommends fire response training for the most successful aviation fire protection.
