Thames Valley - regional planning assessment for the railway - covering west London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire

Regional Planning Assessments (RPAs) set out the UK Government's current thinking on how a region's railway might best be developed. The Thames Valley RPA covers west London, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire or the railway network from Paddington and Marylebone stations as far as the South East England regional boundary and the West London and North London Lines in west London. This document is divided into the following sections: the Thames Valley RPA area (overview, population, employment), Thames Valley transport networks (rail, road, bus and coach networks, airports), the passenger rail market (rail passenger demand, demand for station car parking), the rail freight market (traffic volumes, market development), regional plans (London Plan, South East Plan, airport growth), future rail passenger demand, railway planning context (passenger franchises, Network Rail Business Plan, rail major schemes, road schemes), objectives for development of the railway (rail's strengths and role in the wider transport system, planning objectives, RPA assessment process), and regional planning objectives and RPA findings for the Great Western, Chiltern, West and North London Lines
