China: A Sleeping Giant Arises; Implications for U.S. Logisticians
The author argues that the topic of China is of importance to logisticians in particular and to all business people in general. The author presents a brief history of China, including communism under and after Mao; the important role China plays in world trade, with exports and imports examined; logistical implications for Americans, including seaports and airports; Chinese transportation systems; third-party intermediary use; and off-shoring growth. Among the books he recommends is "One Billion Customers" by James McGregor. The author argues that in terms of important American-Chinese issues, it is the best one-volume summary available.
