AUXILIARY STEAM GENERATION FOR DIESEL SHIPS
This paper discussed the options available on diesel powered ships for the integration of waste heat recovery and auxiliary steam generation. Described are various systems that range in complexity from that of a single natural circulation waste heat boiler to installations with multiple waste heat boilers, oil-fired auxiliary boilers, and dual pressure steam-to-steam generators. Also discussed are aspects of boiler control, equipment redundancy, boiler circulation, feed water deaeration, and maintenance of gas side cleanliness.
