Acoustic Transmission through a Multi-layered Windshield Structure: Correlation between Numerical Simulation and Measurements
This paper describes how the static deflection of the windshield, the actual properties of the poly-vinyl butyral (PVB) material and the clamping conditions of the structure are important parameters to consider in performing an accurate simulation. The MSC.Actran software can be used for accurate prediction of the acoustic performance of a windshield structure, provided that good attention is paid to these parameters. Numerical results have been presented and compared with experimental measurements, which highlight how the above parameters influence the simulation as well as the quality of the correlation.
