Three-Dimensional Thermo-Viscoplastic Behaviour of Bituminous Materials: The DBN Model
The Di Benedetto-Neifar (DBN) model was developed for describing the different domains of behavior for bituminous mixtures. When modeling the mechanical properties of bituminous mixtures, the following aspects have to be taken into consideration: stiffness, fatigue, permanent deformation, and crack and crack propagation. This paper describes the ability of the DBN model to take into account the complex thermo-viscoplastic behavior of bituminous material displayed in different domains of loading. The paper first presents the unidirectional formulation. In order to simulate the real behavior in pavements, the DBN model is then extended to a 3D formulation. The calibration of the DBN model is also discussed.
