APPLICATION OF AERO DERIVED GAS TURBINE, IM100 AND IM300, FOR MARINE CRAFTS IN JAPAN
As of the middle of 1976, over 40 aero derived gas turbines, IM100 and IM300, have been produced for marine use, and have accumulated approximately 100,000 hours of total running time at sea. Furthermore, the studies and efforts to utilize the high powered aero derived gas turbine for large vessel have been carried out systematically based on above marine experiences on small crafts. This paper outlines the experiences which have resulted from the application of two aero derived gas turbine, IM100 and IM300, to main propulsion of commercial hovercrafts and Navy torpedo boats.
