Increasing the Capacity of Freight Transportation - U.S. and Canadian Perspectives. Conference Proceedings
A workshop on freight transportation was held on February 16, 2007 in Santa Monica, California. The workshop, "Increasing the Capacity of Freight Transport: Canadian and American Perspectives on the Challenges Ahead," gathered together over 60 stakeholders from the United States and Canada. These stakeholders represented organized labor; modal freight carriers; federal, provincial, local and state governments; and manufacturers. The workshop discussions centered on the deteriorating performance of the freight transportation system in North America and how to develop strategies for improving freight transportation capacity. Discussions also included regulatory constraints, and the existing and expected economic impacts of freight transportation system constraints.
