National Systems of Transport Infrastructure Planning: The Case of France
This paper addresses recent trends that are currently in force in the French Transport system. The first section describes the planning of major infrastructure projects, and the second section describes the programming and assessment of the projects. The role of local transit authorities within the context of greater decentralization are described in the next section and the paper concludes with the results that have been achieved and the needs that still need to be met by the Government are discussed.
