Development of rapid crossing methods for over-bridge crossing system
In recent Japanese urban restoration programs, the resolution of serious traffic congestion at surface crossing points has become more important for both automobile and railway crossings. The over-bridge crossing system is very effective for the solution of traffic congestion, but it sometimes brings about more congestion owing to traffic restrictions, and also the environmental deterioration of surroundings and these can be reduced by realizing a significant reduction in the construction period. The Japan Bridge Association (JBA) members have further studied and developed, on the basis of social needs," Rapid Construction Methods for Over-bridge Crossing System" which realizes the installation of an over-bridge at surface traffic congestion points in a short construction period. In this report, the outline of rapid construction methods developed by the JBA members, is introduced first, and then two construction examples are discussed.
