THE TRANSIENT RESPONSE CHARACTERISTICS OF A SINGLE-TUBE ONCE-THROUGH STEAM GENERATOR
Mathematical representation of the transient response characteristics of the fluid-side of a single-tube, once-through steam generator is one of the most challenging problems in the automatic control field today. A simplified distributed-parameter model based on constant pressure and constant heat flux is developed in closed-form for a step change in inlet flow rate. This analytical model describes both the transient response of the fluid-side of the steam generator and a continuity wave phenomenon which traverses the tube as the transient takes place. The experimental apparatus used in the evaluation of this model is described.(Author)
