A BIAXIAL TESTING DEVICE FOR EXAMINING PLASTIC FLOW PROPERTIES OF HIGH STRENGTH MATERIALS

The biaxial testing device described herein is capable of obtaining yield points in any quadrant of the two-dimensional stress space. Several yield theories are compared with experimental results in the compression quadrant for HY-80 steel. A deformation-type flow theory is used in conjunction with this apparatus to compare theoretical and experimental post-yielding stresses. Very good agreement was obtained between measured and calculated values.(Author)
