TYPES OF FLOW IN OPEN CHANNELS
A graphical solution is presented for the two common flow classifications, tranquil or subcritical and steady rapid or supercritical, which is applicable also to the less commonly understood classification, pulsating flow. Design charts for rectangular, trapezoidal, and circular channel sections are presented. The analytical development of the equations on which the charts are based is given.
