APPLICATION OF CROSS-BI-SPECTRAL ANALYSIS TO SHIP RESISTANCE IN WAVES
The objective has been to demonstrate by analyses of experimental data that a postulated quadratic functional polynomial model is a reasonable representation of the added ship resistance produced by waves. The evidence is fairly strong that this is so, and that the model shows considerable promise as a unifying concept for the analysis and interpretation of added ship resistance in random waves. In the course of the work cross-bi-spectral analysis methods were developed and applied to the derivation of an added resistance operator from data obtained in irregular waves. The methods appear to have further promise.
