Pacific Electric Red Cars
The Pacific Electric Railway was the most prominent of the rail lines created at the turn of the 20th century to create interurban links through Southern California communities. Founded in 1901 and terminated in 1965, Pacific Electric operated in the Los Angeles metropolitan area and was known as the “World’s Great Interurban.” This book uses vintage photographs and other sources to detail the history of this railroad and its distinctive red cars.
