Punching of Post-Tensioned Slabs—Tests and Codes
This paper presents results from 24 tests in the literature as well as 16 new tests concerning the calculation of punching strengths of post-tensioned slabs. The test results are compared with predicted results from three international design recommendations: American Concrete Institute 318-02, Eurocode 2, and the International Federation for Prestressing codes. Conclusions are drawn on the general adequacy of the design methods and on possible improvements. Findings show that all 3 methods of calculating punching strengths of post-tensioned slabs give broadly satisfactory results compared with the test data considered. However, there are signs that the present methods all have some weaknesses.
