INTERACTIVE GRAPHICS SKETCH-PLANNING MODEL FOR URBAN TRANSPORTATION

This paper presents a description of an interactive graphics sketch-planning model for urban transportation developed at Princeton University. The model was developed to operate in an IBM 370 VM/CMS environment with functions and subroutines written in both APL and assembler language to improve flexibility and speed in accessing and manipulating large networks and data bases. Benefits of the interactive sketch-planning aspects of the model are described. The sensitivity of sketch planning to spatial aggregation of demand data and remedies for alleviating the inaccuracies resulting from spatial aggregation are discussed. /Author/
