A National Agenda for Increasing Safety Belt Use Among Teenagers
At least 900 15-20 year old people will die in traffic accidents in the United States this year because they did not use seat belts. Teenagers are at great risk for fatal automobile accidents. They are newly qualified drivers, some studies say that their decision making capacity and ability to judge situations is not completely developed, they are undergoing great change as a result of their age, many are risk takers, and they are - as a group - loathe to wear seat belts. This publication sets out a case for the danger that teenage drivers represent to themselves and others, and provides strategies to help them wear seat belts in order to save their lives.
