SHORE DISPOSAL OF SHIP GENERATED SEWAGE AT ACTIVITIES IN THE EASTERN AREA. VOLUME 1.

The intent of the study was to determine the most economical, effective and technically feasible method of treating the millions of gallons of untreated sewage being discharged from Naval vessels operating in restricted waters. The report provides conceptual design and costs for facilities to accept ship sewage for treatment and disposal at Naval activities in the eastern area of the United States, including Puerto Rico. Volume I developes the criteria including ship berthing and sewage flow data, unit prices, cost factors, saltwater sewage effects on sewerage facilities and other pertinent engineering data; presents and discusses the engineering development and cost data for sewerage facilities at each activity, and summarizes the findings of the study.(Author)
