SCANIA HOPES FOR UK MARKET
The new Scania CR112 city bus, which has a totally encapsulated engine compartment reducing the noise level to 77 db(a) is described. The chassis includes major improvements to power units and transmission. The insulated engine compartment is now slightly pressurised to dissipate heat through sound-trapped apertures in the underside and reduce the ingress of dust and dirt. The radiator has been relocated to reduce heat and noise. A close customer relationship has resulted in many new features in the CR112. The steel framed bodywork has side panelling which is secured by only four bolts. The panels may be quickly removed for maintenance or replacement. Accommodation permutations allow for up to 44 seated and 39 standing passengers. Engines of 205 bhp and 260 bhp are available with 2-ratio or 4-ratio automatic gearboxes and a constant height suspension is fitted to all models. /TRRL/
