MAINTENANCE IN URBAN AREAS

The paper discusses some aspects of urban highway maintenance with particular reference to new techniques and materials. It is shown how use can be made of management systems and road testing machines to allocate resources and a strong recommendation is made for research to determine the appropriate minimum carriageway maintenance standards for heavily-trafficked urban roads from an amenity viewpoint. /Author/TRRL/
