Transit's potential to improve the urban situation in Perth

This paper examines opportunities for transit-oriented development along the yet to be constructed South West Metropolitan Rail line in Perth, Western Australia. Site analyses, data sets and background information from previous research and government documents are used to determine development potential. Situations under the present development guidelines and under proposed changes to transit-oriented development (TOD)are explored. TOD potential and obstacles to implementation are also discussed.
