HORIZONTAL TRANSITION CURVES BY MEANS OF THE BIQUADRATIC PARABOLA
RACCORDI PLANIMETRICI DI FLESSO MEDIANTE PARABOLA BIQUADRATICA
The authors propose the adoption of a fourth degree equation referred to as the biquadratic parabola, to resolve the problem of transition between discordant horizontal curves. The numerical procedure is explained and a nomogram is presented to facilitate the selection and calculation of these curves and to check the validity of preselected curves. The method is suggested as an alternative to the traditional clothoid curves. /TRRL/
