The Next Step in Aviation Security
This article describes the newly opened Security Operations Center (SOC) at San Francisco International Airport. Launched in August 2005 with a staff of four security analysts, SOC monitors the airport via an extensive Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) network. Housed in the same facility as the airport's 911 Communications Center, SOC collects and analyzes security data, identifies trends, and conducts proactive surveillance that provides communication dispatchers with information regarding specific incidents.
