FOUR BASIC TYPES OF METAL FATIGUE
Confusion at present existing in the literature about how fatigue cracks originate and grow can be resolved by distinguishing between four basic types of fatigue, each with a distinctive mode of crack initiation and growth. Each type is illustrated by scanning electron microscopy.
