RIGID VINYL STRUCTURAL MODEL APPLICATIONS INVOLVING HYDRODYNAMIC LOADING CONDITIONS
A rigid vinyl model of a MARINER class ship was designed, constructed, and operated in waves. Bending moments, shear forces, and wave heights were recorded. The structural response characteristics were compared with available data for a segmented model of the same ship, and with theoretical calculations. It is concluded that rigid vinyl models of ships can be employed for obtaining quasi-static wave induced structural response.
