EXTREME ABGASNORMEN: DRASTISCHE KOSTEN-UND VERBRAUCHSSTEIGERUNG
Today and in the foreseeable future the present technology cannot simultaneously fulfil extreme limits of exhaust values and values of consumption. The car industry is therefore in an increasing conflict about aims. The bmw (bayerische motorenwerke ag), which covers all the essential exhaust considerations of the various countries in its production models, carried out an extensive comparison in which they investigated various concepts regarding exhaust emission, consumption, efficiency, engine behaviour and costs. The comparison comprises the European model, models for Sweden/Australia, USA and the California model, and it is illustrated with the results of the 4-cylinder 2-1 engine with continuous injection. In evaluating the various exhaust concepts comparison has been made with the European version. /TRRL/
