A STUDY OF THE ECONOMICS OF ROAD VEHICLE LIMITS; THE EFFECTS OF A CHANGE IN MASS AND DIMENSION LIMITS ON PERFORMANCE AND OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES
The performance and operational characteristics of commercial vehicles. The report examines the possible effects of changes in vehicle limits on the mechanical aspect of heavy vehicles, and reports on appropriate controls which should accompany possible increases in mass and dimension limits. The intention of such controls is to ensure that no overall degradation in the safety and performance aspects of heavy vehicles will result from our increase in mass and dimensions. The specific aspects of road performance considered to be most susceptible to our increase in vehicle limits are grade climbing ability and acceleration capability, and safety. The cover title of the report is "Performance and Operational Characteristics of Commercial Vehicles". /TRRL/
