FEDERAL POLICY OPTIONS TO EFFECT FUEL CONSERVATION IN THE AIR INDUSTRY
Federal policies which may have potential for reducing petroleum consumption within the transportation sector are dealt with in this paper. Airlines consume nearly 10 percent of the transportation energy and constitute a considerable portion of the operating cost. Federal policies discussed include: Fuel Allocation and Price Control; Taxation; Air Carrier Regulation; Aviation System Regulation and Federal Expenditures and Investment.
