Airborne Systems and Data Fusion for Traffic Surveillance and Forecast for the Soccer World Cup
It is demonstrated, that a novel surveillance system integrating airborne traffic surveillance with traditional ground detection of traffic flow can yield valuable information needed for a better management of big events. The sensor system is described in detail just as well the approach for the automated image analysis in the surrounding of common ITS architectures. Online data fusion on the base of average of speed and density was successful done with parameters like number of cars or travel time. The forecast were used by the action forces of Police of Baden-Württemberg, Police Department of Cologne, and by the private traffic information company “Air Service Berlin”. The very first results of a new approach to analyze this kind of data are shown also. This algorithm is directly based on the trajectories of the detected cars.
