Bright Road Ahead: Innovative Marking Products are Being Used to Help Reduce Accidents, Particularly at Night

This article provides information on road demarcations in terms of their types and efficacy. The technologies used for these markings have improved since the 1980s, particularly through the use of glass beads that aid in nighttime retro-reflection. There are two basic types of road surface markings. The first is a simple shape of different colored pigmentation on the surface without topographical modification, although this type may contain glass beads. The second type of road markings has a raised topology that ensures retro-reflection even in adverse conditions. Another important feature of the topological type is that it does not hinder daytime visibility and so provides a more versatile and easy to implement road demarcation.
