People Matter
This article examines ways in which airline passengers can get through security checks more easily and with less frustration if a Registered Traveler system were established. The article relates that many believe that the focus for airline security agents should shift from “bad objects to bad people.” Others oppose any type of profiling of passengers. But proponents of a registered traveler system believe that by removing a certain number of regular passengers from the long lines waiting at security checkpoints, other passengers in those lines will move through more swiftly. The author describes one such program, called Clear, in use at Orlando Airport in Florida. In addition, new ideas for better, faster security screening devices, including sensor fusion, are discussed
