Advances in Management: Automated Road Sign Detection and Recognition
This article examines automated road sign detection and recognition. Focus is on the Trident-3D mobile mapping solution. The authors discuss data acquisition and data extraction. They describe automated road sign detection and a prototype developed for that purpose by their company, as well as road sign recognition. Included is information on preliminary results using automation from tests in Quebec and Europe. The authors conclude that the technology is still quite young, but in the future should revolutionize the way in which roadside assets and other features are inventoried.
