Weight of intellect

This article describes the weigh-in-motion technology used in the product InTeli-WIM from Kistler Instrumente AG. The system provides wheel and axle load data and gross vehicle weight at a variety of speeds and can be installed in any kind of pavement. Other information provided includes vehicle description and image. Hardware comprises sensors, amplifiers, a loop controller, computer, road cabinet, video camera and toll equipment. The sensor is based on quartz technology and the modular design makes installation easy. The processor software is a computer-based standalone package interfaced to the equipment and the lane controller can be configured to any number of lanes. Remote location software connects to the processor software to enable retrieval of processed data: different reports can be generated according to the applications and user needs. Various users can access the system simultaneously for different purposes.
