An Empirical Examination of Relationship Magnitude
This paper investigates the effect of the level of relationship magnitude on relationship type and on the perception of value from the relationship in interorganizational relationships. It is hypothesized that relationship magnitude, a second-order construct composed of trust, commitment and dependence, affects relationship type, which affects the perception of value of the relationship. The results of a survey analyzed through structural equation modeling support these hypotheses. These findings provide an empirically tested theoretical foundation from which to conduct future research on interorganizational relationship structure.
