A Combined Survey Research Method of Residents’ Choice Decision in Transportation Demand Forecast
The purpose of this paper is to present a study which includes a combined survey method that will aid in forecasting traffic demand. Forecasting traffic demand involved many different factors that vary from individual to individual. Residence location and transportation mode choice are two important factors. These, combined with the sociological and economic characteristics of individuals, can make traffic forecasting difficult. One of the easier ways to determine these characteristics of individuals is to conduct a trip survey. This study uses a combined survey. The combined survey includes a social research and a resident trip survey. This paper evaluates choice results and satisfaction index by the combined survey in geogrpahic information system (GIS). A case study shows the application of using the combined survey in forecasting traffic demand.
